The Center for Gender & Diversity (ZGD) is a joint institution of Universität Hamburg, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW), Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HFBK) Hamburg, HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU), Helmut Schmidt University—University of the Federal Armed Forces (HSU), Bucerius Law School, and the Evangelische Hochschule für Soziale Arbeit und Diakonie in Hamburg (Protestant University for Social Work Hamburg).

The ZGD organizes the certificates in gender studies and in intersectionality and diversity for students from all of these universities. It is moreover home to the Central Library of Women’s Studies, Gender & Queer Studies.

The ZGD supports research into gender and diversity, facilitates networking between stakeholders for gender and diversity, and develops conferences, workshops, and public offers on current topics within gender and diversity studies. It moreover advises on gender and diversity aspects in research, teaching, and studies, and cooperates closely with the institutions for gender equality at the different universities.
